North American Hand Papermakers invites you to Rooted in Fiber, our annual conference featuring demos, workshops, lectures, and discussions led by Papermaking artists, scholars and practitioners. Rooted in Fiber focuses on relationships with the fibers that connect us. At this conference we will examine the literal and figurative connective strands that make us Papermakers, as well as the vitality that stems from interconnection. We dig into the radical roots of hand papermaking beyond a medium for making – in celebrating 40 Years of Hand Papermaking Magazine we come together planting seeds for paper, people, and beyond. Join us this September 24-26, in Baltimore, Maryland, for a conference highlighting the tactility, community, and strength of Hand Papermaking in 2026.
The 3-day conference offers special registration rates for early registration, students, and presenters. Your registration will include all talks and regular demonstrations (unless specified otherwise) as well as coffee breaks, receptions, and the final banquet on Saturday night.

Most events for Rooted in Fiber will be held at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Conference attendees have opportunities to attend inspiring talks and panels, participate in exciting demos, and join tours and other events at MICA, and around Baltimore. A few demonstrations and tours may have limited space due to logistics and may require registration ahead of conference start. Any post conference opportunities listed on the NAHP website will be separate from the Rooted in Fiber conference registration and may require additional registration and/or sign up with host site.
All registrants MUST have current NAHP membership to attend the conference. Membership dues are separate from conference registration fees. If you are unsure of your membership status, please login to Wild Apricot and click on your name in the top right corner, or email aidan@nahandpapermakers.org.
